Super Slav sends thank you note to Karren Brady for transfer signings!

Karren Brady has revealed in her column in the Sun that West Ham manager Slaven Bilic sent her a thank you note after the club completed four new signings on transfer deadline day.

Bilic was delighted with the acquisitions of Michail Antonio and Nikica Jelavic (permanent) and that of Alex Song and Victor Moses (loan) and sent Brady a note saying, “Good job Karren. We’ve done well. Thanks!”

Brady went on to add that it was the “first time in 25 years a manager has done that”

Super Slav is certainly a PR guy’s dream! [Read more…]

West Ham Tuesday Update

West Ham United continue to be linked with a whole host of strikers while Hammer’s Co-Chairman David Gold has come out defending Allardyce’s style of play and West Ham’s former number 9 Carlton Cole looks set for a French adventure.

David Gold has launched a defence of West Ham manager Sam Allardyce’s tactics and style of football suggesting Big Sam is unfairly labelled a long ball merchant and has hit all the targets the club have set him. [Read more…]

David Gold Not Ruling Out January Departures

Reading the exclusive interview with David Gold on WHUFC.com and it was interesting about his take on players leaving the club:

There have been a couple of stories about players going out in January. Do you need to sell players or are there prospects that some players might go out?

You could put the questions the other way around. Can we afford to bring in new players? All new acquisitions will have to be paid for by David Sullivan and myself. It’s not our intention to burden the football club with any further debt. It’s important that we reduce debt and not increase it or at least hold it to its current level.

Do players have to go? It’s not a question of ‘do they have to go’; we don’t want them to go. We want to keep our best players, we’ve got a very tough four months to go and we’ve got through the first half of the season and we’re in good shape as we’re equal top as we speak. There was a massive closing of the gap on Monday and I know that we felt that we might struggle to beat Coventry but if their keeper hadn’t had the best game of his life we’d have probably won the game two or three nil. We don’t want to lose any of our best players.

It’s very difficult for a Chairman of a football club to say ‘That’s definitely not going to happen’. No supporter wants to lose any of their good players and we want to keep our best players as our focus is 100 per cent on promotion and you don’t gain promotion if you start selling your best players.

So lets hope that none of our best players decide they want pastures new!!

Gollivan: Support Is Amazing

Joint-Chairman David Gold and David Sullivan or Gollivan as I like to call them, took time out today to thank the supporters on WHUFC.COM for their amazing match day attendance.

Hammers fans continue to set the standard in the npower Championship – with an incredible 6,313 heading to Coventry City on Saturday week.

The claret and blue faithful have been impressive at the Boleyn Ground this season but their devotion has been particularly striking away from home. After helping Southampton and Brighton & Hove Albion to set record attendances, they then contributed to the biggest crowd of the campaign at Hull City last weekend.

Joint-Chairman David Sullivan hailed the support. “It’s totally amazing,” he told whufc.com. “I’ve never known such amazing away support so early in the season.

“The club is so proud of our travelling away supporters. Not only do they make a massive amount of noise, but they are impeccably well behaved. Every one of them is a true ambassador for the club.”

With more than a month to go as well until the trip to Reading on Saturday 10 December, more than 70 per cent of the 4,200 allocation has already gone.

We may not be in the Premier League at the moment but our support could be put half of the Premier League clubs to shame!
