West Ham skipper Mark Noble has launched a stinging attack at critics who feel that the 29 year old doesn’t deserve a spot in Slaven Bilic’s starting XI. In an interview to Sky, Noble suggested that most of the fans who currently go to games “don’t really understand football” and that criticism for the likes of Wayne Rooney and Arsene Wenger was unwarranted as well [Read more…]
What a difference a year makes. The 2016-17 season has seen a drastic turnaround from from what preceded it. It would seem that the usual status quo has returned with the big six taking their typical place atop the league table, and players expected to be next generation of stars coming back down to the earth. Chief among these has been the shocking reversal of fortune for Leicester City’s squad as well as the disappointment in the big-money extension given to last year’s midfield star for the Hammers, Dimitri Payet. This was a draw that felt like a loss after the final whistle!
In hindsight, a point against a Tony Pulis side that are defensively more than decent away from home [prior to this game, the only away fixtures in which they had let in two or more goals were against Liverpool (two) and Tottenham (four)] is quite a good achievement. But due to the nature of the late goal conceded, it felt like a loss, and Hammers boss Slaven Bilic took out his anger on the tv mic on the sidelines.
Albion lead 1-0 at the break, thanks to Nacer Chadli’s sixth minute opener, a nice goal in which he nutmegged both Kouyate and Randolph. West Ham had a goal disallowed for Feghouli and Bilic rang in a tactical change at half time, bringing off Cresswell for Callieri, and switching to three at the back.
With West Ham looking more enterprising going forward, Pulis removed goal scorer Chadli and introduced Jonny Evans to match the Hammers’ formation.
The equaliser came on 63 minutes and it was Feghouli who provided it, with the Algerian quickest to react after Ben Foster had tipped Lanzini’s first time effort onto the bar.
Calleri had a tough half- there were plenty of crosses put into the box, but it was a strategy that would’ve suited Andy Carroll or even Ashley Fletcher rather than the Argentine. He was even shrugged off by Albion right back Allan Nyom and with Snodgrass also struggling with his defensive duties following the switch to 3 at the back, Bilic pushed Antonio to the wing to deal with the marauding Cameroonian. Dimitri Payet made his “second” league debut for Marseille in their Match Day 23 clash against FC Metz. Payet, who had also played in the Coupe de France win over Lyon, was a second half substitute for OM against Metz, replacing Bouna Sarr nine minutes into the second half.
Unfortunately for Payet and OM, Metz won the game 1-0 thanks to Yann Jouffre’s 82nd minute strike. A disappointing result for OM, who were very poor on the road in the first half of the Ligue 1 season [Read more…]

Watch a video where West Ham manager Slaven Bilic admits that Dimitri Payet “does not want to play” for the club. Bilic however reiterates that the club do not want to sell their best players.
