An eventful evening, but certainly not the best for us. Dropped a 2-0 lead at home to draw 2-2 (Ogbonna scored a comical own goal), Slaven got sent off to the stands by the ref, Collins got red carded, and worst of all, Enner Valencia suffered an injury that looks to keep him out for an extended period of time. Time for Slaven to sign someone as a stopgap- that Valencia injury looked nasty [Read more…]
Manuel Lanzini has become the latest arrival at the Boleyn Ground after signing a season long loan deal with West Ham. A great crowd of 34,966 watched West Ham get their season underway with a 3-0 win over Andorran minnows Lusitanos. Bilic got a great reception from the crowd, but he was not in charge for this game, watching from the stands, with academy boss Terry Westley taking the reins.
The goals took a while to come- Westley had a frustrating wait till 40 minutes to watch the first go in courtesy Senegalese forward Diafra Sakho, who again got on the scoresheet before the interval. Zarate had a hand in the first, with Amalfitano setting up the second.
Great day for young Reece Oxford, who became West Ham’s youngest player at the age of 16 years and 198 days.
Skipper Tomkins got the third just before the hour mark.

It’s not Dimitri Payet (not yet), but we have a confirmed signing! West Ham United have made another acquisition in the summer transfer window by snapping up talented youngster Martin Samuelsen from Man City. He joins a two year deal (till 2017) and has the option of extending it by a further two years. Samuelsen is our third signing of the season after goalkeeper Darren Randolph (Birmingham) and midfielder Pedro Obiang (Sampdoria)
The 18 year old has been capped by Norway at U16, U17 and U18 levels, and Academy manager Terry Westley was delighted at the acquisition. Westley said that the teenager had been a target for the likes of Real Madrid and Chelsea at the age of 14, and chose to join West Ham despite having interest from several Italian and German clubs. Mexico became the first team to be knocked out of Copa America 2015 as they lost 2-0 to an Ecuadorean side which had West Ham’s Enner Valencia in their starting lineup. Valencia had a hand in the first goal scored by Miller Bolanos. His 26th minute shot was blocked and fell to Bolanos, who scored from close range.
Emelec striker Bolanos returned the favour twelve minutes after the interval, setting up Valencia for a decisive blow to Mexico’s hopes. The goal was Valencia’s second of the tournament, with the forward having also got on the scoresheet in the previous game against Bolivia. El Tri pulled one back from the penalty spot through Raul Jimenez, but it was not enough as Ecuador hung to claim all three points. [Read more…]
Days after Sunderland had agreed a season long loan deal with Arsenal for Carl Jenkinson, West Ham have jumped into the fray, with chairman David Gold confirming to the BBC that they are interested in re-signing the 23 year old.
Relevant quotes from Gold regarding Jenkinson in today’s BBC interview below. Jenks is currently on duty with the England U21 team at the European Championships in the Czech Republic. England lost their opener to Portugal U21 last night, leaving them with some real work to do in their upcoming games.
“We know we need a right-back and will work tirelessly to bring in Carl. If that does not work out, we have other irons in the fire” [Read more…]
Our new strip for the 2015/2016 Premier League season has been revealed today, and Umbro have come up with a cracker for our last season at the Boleyn ahead of the big move to the Olympic Stadium. It’s also our first Umbro made uniform since 2010- we inked a five season deal with them to replace Adidas beginning the 15/16 season.
Given the teaser promos ahead of the big reveal dubbing it as the “Boleyn Ground” kit, it was obvious that Umbro would come up with a retro one, and we expected them to give us a good one. [Read more…]
West Ham’s fixtures for the new Premier League season have been released, and it’s a mixed draw, we have to say.
We can’t publish the whole list of fixtures here owing to factors beyond our control, (click to see them at the BBC), but here is a short synopsis.
First game is away at Arsenal, final day of the season away at Stoke.
Bit disappointing that we don’t have a home game on the final day of the season, would be a classic occasion given that it would also be the last game at the Boleyn [Read more…]
