England manager Gareth Southgate is considering a recall to the national squad for West Ham striker Andy Carroll for the Three Lions’ upcoming clashes against Germany and Lithuania. With Harry Kane, Wayne Rooney and Daniel Sturridge all out, Southgate is mulling over a call up to Carroll as well his West Ham teammate Michail Antonio.
Carroll last played for England over four years ago. Antonio was called up by Sam Allardyce last year, but never earned a cap.
There has also been talk of Southgate considering Sunderland veteran Jermain Defoe, a proven goal scorer, but perhaps on the wrong side of 30 (he’s 34)
