Time running out for Allardyce as Benitez hits shortlist

It looks like Sam Allardyce does not have time on his side after being beaten by Leicester at the weekend after what looked like a certain point for the Hammers.

To make matters worse for the big man, Rafa Benitez has been put on a “shortlist” of managers who could be replacing him if things turn ugly for the club.

Rafa Benitez

Rafa Benitez is on West Ham United’s shortlist

Other managers in the frame include Manchester United favourite David Moyes but it would be difficult to prise the Scot away from Real Sociedad and the Spanish way of life which he must be enjoying.

Allardyce’s contract expires at the end of this campaign and Benitez wants a return to the Premier League. The Napoli manager is ready to quit the Italian Serie A outfit, even though they are currently 6th in the table. Benitez has also made it no secret that he’s love a return to top flight football in England.

Besiktas boss Slaven Bilic is said to be a favourite of the Hammer fans and the club are also looking at future developments surrounding the 46 year-old former Croatian footballer.

Benitez may be a good option for the Hammers especially given his CV in England, guiding both Liverpool and Chelsea to success – even if some fans do regard him as el camarero gordo español!

About Stevo

Stevo can remember going to games with his Dad and seeing the likes of Clyde Best of all people. He also has a few mates who have “done” complete seasons too – and that was when the Irons were in division one. That’s every home and away game – unbelievable! Stevo plans to do this himself next season!
