Winston Reid is reportedly out injured until the New Year which is news that will dismay West Ham United fans.
Reid, 25, has followed on his excellent form from last season and has been excellent for West Ham this season putting in top notch performances and becoming one of our most influential players.
The New Zealand international will also miss his countries World Cup Qualifying double header with Mexico this month.
Speaking to New Zealand based Radio Live, Reid said:
There’s maybe a one per cent chance, if a miracle happens, but apart from that the injury is serious enough that it’s going to take a far longer time than two weeks.
The player himself has Tweeted about his devastation at missing games for West Ham and New Zealand:
West Ham haven’t commented on the injury yet just insisting that they are still ‘assessing’ the situation. But after the Andy Carroll debacle I am not sure how long Reid will actually be out for.
It’s a shame he wasn’t on the pitch on Saturday as I don’t see Reid giving away sloppy fouls like James Collins did to allow Norwich their second goal through a Robert Snodgrass free kick.
What is it with West Ham letting in free kicks this season? It’s also frustrating that we don’t appear to have anyone who can even get the ball over the wall yet every other team appears to have a player capable of bending one in!
Anyway, let’s hope Reid isn’t out for too long and roll on the January window as we are in desperate need of reinforcements.
