Romelu Lukaku set to be unleashed against West Ham on Saturday

Romelu Lukaku is set to be unleashed on West Ham United tomorrow by Merseyside outfit Everton, and Toffees Spanish manager Bob Martinez is confident that the Belgian star will net more than the 17 goals he knocked in last season.

Lukaku was ineligible for last weekend’s 1 nil win over Chelsea at Goodison Park as he arrived at the toffees on the last day of the summer transfer day deadline.

Roberto Martinez is confident in the 20 year old and will probably give him his debut for Merseyside outfit against the Hammers on Saturday.

Martinez believes the Belgium international will improve on his performances for West Bromwich Albion where he found the net practically every other game in the league.

“I have been very impressed with Romelu,” said Martinez.

“We have seen him develop into a top striker from the outside: at 16 he came through the ranks at Anderlecht and all of a sudden you can see the potential.

“When you get to work with him you can see he is a very mature boy after his experiences.

“He is really intelligent with good football knowledge and above everything he has a huge desire to succeed, and that is exactly what we need in the dressing room.

“What he brings is something we haven’t got and that always excites you as a manager.

“Looking at what he did last season (scoring 17 in 35 appearances) he is capable of working and improving on that.

On a lighter note, with Jussi Jaaskelainen on fire, West Ham won’t be too worried if Martinez lets Romelu Lukaku take a penalty. The 20 year old stepped up to take the last spot kick for Chelsea against Bayern Munich in the Supercup and rolled it towards Manuel Neuer, handing the trophy to Pep Guardiola and his new team on a plate. So on that bombshell, come on you irons!

About Stevo

Stevo can remember going to games with his Dad and seeing the likes of Clyde Best of all people. He also has a few mates who have “done” complete seasons too – and that was when the Irons were in division one. That’s every home and away game – unbelievable! Stevo plans to do this himself next season!
